The Dignify Survey

The Dignify Survey is an online survey for use primarily with Years 9 to 13, although it can be used with lower secondary year groups.

Our Survey:

  • Is anonymous
  • Covers topics like: social media use, nude sharing, exposure to porn, harmful sexual behaviour in school, children's thoughts on RSE provisions and overall wellbeing
  • Offers tailored recommendations based on data outcomes
  • Provides schools and colleges with a comprehensive audit that supports Ofsted's 2021 recommendations for whole-school and whole-community approaches

Our survey can be adapted for SEND schools, and youth groups.

What Does The Dignify Survey Include?

Dignify will set your school up with:

  • An individual school survey link to be sent to students
  • A student information letter
  • A briefing for teachers
  • A template letter for parents

We then conduct a full analysis of the survey data including gender and year group breakdowns where appropriate. Your school will then be provided with:

  • A full report and executive summary of findings
  • Recommendations for any potential changes to your school or colleges RSE programme

FAQs

We've answered the most common question about the Dignify Survey—covering what it includes, how it works, safeguarding, and practical details. If you need more information, please contact us.

  1. Social Media Use
  2. Sexual Harassment
  3. Nude Sharing
  4. Experience of Pornography
  5. Relationships & Sex Education
  6. Wellbeing

The Dignify Survey goes far beyond measuring exposure to pornography. It provides a comprehensive picture of student wellbeing and school culture.

You’ll gain detailed insight into:

  • Harmful sexual behaviours occurring in your school
  • Student views on your current RSE provision
  • Confidence in reporting concerns to staff
  • Social media habits and online risks
  • Nude sharing and understanding of the law
  • Student suggestions for improving protection and RSE (via qualitative responses)

We also apply the ONS4 Wellbeing Indicators to give a reliable measure of:

  • Life Satisfaction
  • Life Worthwhile
  • Happiness
  • Anxiety

This means you receive both quantitative data and student voice, helping you shape curriculum, pastoral care, and safeguarding strategies.

The Dignify Survey was first created with input from secondary school leaders in South Hertfordshire and has been widely used to explore the challenges young people face.

Over 18,000 students have completed it so far.

Since then, we’ve introduced a new automated system in consultation with leading data experts and updated our questions to reflect RSE guidance and technological developments, working closely with partner charities, organisations, and schools.

The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.

Absolutely. While we usually work with Years 9–13 to avoid introducing ideas prematurely, the survey is designed to fit your context.

We can include Years 7 and 8 and collaborate with you to decide which sections to use. If needed, we can provide separate links for different year groups.

Yes. In addition to our standard school survey, we offer adapted versions for colleges, youth groups, and SEND schools.

We can also provide supplementary resource packs and survey guides to support students with special educational needs. Our team will work closely with you to ensure every student can participate and that you receive the valuable insights you need.

Our standard secondary school survey can be tailored for:

  • Boarding schools
  • Colleges
  • SEND schools
  • Youth groups

We’ll work with you to decide which sections to include so the survey fits your context. For example, you might choose to remove the section on Experiences of Pornography for Year 9—this can easily be arranged. Separate links can also be provided for different year groups if needed.

Although the survey can be completed on mobile phones, we recommend using a computer or laptop for ease of use.

Most schools choose to run the survey in a computer suite, where teachers can easily monitor screens and provide support or pastoral care if needed.

When you book a survey, we’ll agree on a timeframe for students to complete it. This could be a few days during designated RSE lessons or spread over a couple of weeks—whatever works best for your school.

Once the survey closes (after the agreed period), we’ll prepare your detailed report and deliver it within three weeks.

Student wellbeing is our top priority.  Our staff and volunteer team all hold relevant DBS certificates and Dignify will provide documentary evidence of this on request. Our team reviews survey data regularly, including qualitative responses, to check for any safeguarding issues.

Although all responses are anonymous, any survey response which raises safeguarding concerns will be raised with the School via the Safeguarding contact provided.

Students are never asked to share their names, and questions about protected characteristics (such as gender or ethnicity) are optional.

If a student includes another student’s name in a qualitative response, we follow best practice by contacting the school confidentially. That response will not be shared beyond the school unless required for safeguarding.

When reporting on small sample sizes, we avoid detailed breakdowns that could allow staff to identify individual students.

Until April 2026, we're offering 25 fully funded School Surveys on a first-come, first-served basis. Enquire here.

After that, the survey is available at a subsidised rate of £450 per school. Discounts are available for multiple schools booking together, and we can sometimes access grants to further reduce costs—please get in touch to explore these options.

Children are telling us they need more support, and we're committed to making this resource accessible to every school nationwide.

Your report includes tailored recommendations for your school, along with signposting to resources from Dignify and other trusted organisations.

After the report is delivered, we’re available for follow-up calls to discuss the findings and gather feedback.

We also offer Teacher Training as part of our Whole School Lesson Pack. When paired with the survey, this training can include a session exploring your school’s data and how it can shape future changes.
