Our Beginnings

In 2017, global news feeds were dominated by allegations of sexual abuse in many spheres of society. #metoo

We asked:

  • How has society normalised sexual abuse and objectification to such a degree that it has been tolerated and ignored for so long?
  • What would it take to rewrite the prevailing cultural narrative that normalises sexual objectification and help shape a community that promotes healthy relationships?
  • Can the community work together to create a culture of dignity and equality for the next generation to grow up in?

A conversation was launched and has been gathering voices ever since. The sexualisation of children, the easy accessibility of sexually explicit material and the normalisation of pornography are harming our young people's physical, mental, emotional and relational health.

Dignify is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation established in 2020. Registered charity no. 1192067.

Our Purpose

The wellbeing of our children is important — Dignify is saying let’s talk about porn. Together as a community, we can shape a new narrative so that children and young people can thrive within healthy relationships, free from the sexual objectification that porn can normalise.

We are working to fufill the mission embodied by The Dignify Charter through:

  • student and youth workshops
  • parent/carer workshops
  • family workshops
  • the Dignify School Survey
  • teacher support (school assemblies, lesson plans)
  • think tanks, conferences and events

The Dignify Charter

1. We champion healthy relationships.

2. We challenge the normalising of  pornography, particularly its harmful effects on children and young people.

3. We call out sexual objectification  and all its negative consequences.

It’s time for a #RelationshipReset
